Industrial Maintenance Mechanic – Multi-Craft

About the role

Join 3M’s industrial maintenance team as a Multi‑Craft Mechanic, working on a variety of equipment that supports production, laboratory, office and utility operations. You will collaborate with global 3Mers to keep mechanical, piping and processing systems running safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, modify and adjust mechanical equipment, piping systems and fixtures for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling and industrial processing.
• Respond to shop work orders, perform preventive maintenance and continuously improve maintenance procedures.
• Determine required parts, tools and supplies for each job and document all activities in the CMMS work order system.
• Ensure safe use of rigging equipment and adhere to all safety standards.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associate degree in mechanical maintenance or completion of an approved apprenticeship program.
• At least five years of experience maintaining and troubleshooting industrial processing equipment.
• Valid driver’s license.

Required skills

• Basic machining skills (turning, milling, welding).
• Proficiency with rigging equipment such as hoists, cranes, lift trucks, dollies, rollers and jacks.
• Knowledge of mechanical and hydraulic power‑transmission components (shafts, bearings, gears, pulleys, belts, chains, seals, fasteners, couplings, brakes, clutches, pumps, valves).
• Ability to read and interpret measurement instruments.
• Basic computer literacy and experience using a CMMS.
