Senior Laboratory Director – Display & Electronics Adhesives

About the role

3M is seeking a Senior Laboratory Director to lead the global Display & Electronics Adhesives R&D platform. You will drive innovation across multiple adhesive technologies, mentor diverse workgroups, and translate customer needs into breakthrough products.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Display and Electronics total global Adhesives R&D platform, overseeing OCA, PSA, e‑Bonding, Conductive and Structural Adhesives.
• Develop, coach, and provide direction for multiple workgroups, ensuring delivery of complex projects and portfolio outcomes.
• Identify, prioritize, initiate, and plan technical programs across workgroups, owning the technical outcome of the portfolio.
• Originate and champion primary recommendations for major laboratory programs, leveraging resources across 3M for maximum impact.
• Partner with TEBG vertical teams to integrate customer needs into the development pipeline and execute NPI opportunities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in physics, chemistry, biology, statistics, mathematics, IT/management information systems, mechanical engineering or engineering science (completed prior to start).
• Minimum five (5) years of laboratory leadership experience in a private, public, government or military environment.
• Preferably fifteen (15)+ years of significant contributions to laboratory organizations, strong background in electronics/display technologies, and recognized technical credibility within the 3M community.
• Demonstrated long‑range vision, business understanding, and an extensive network of senior lab and technical personnel.

Required skills

• Expertise in adhesive technologies: OCA, PSA, e‑Bonding, Conductive Adhesives, Structural Adhesives.
• Strong knowledge of electronics and display technology platforms.
