Industrial Electrical Controls Technician

About the role

Amentum, a supplier of maintenance and engineering technical support for commercial and industrial critical facilities, is looking for an Industrial Electrical Controls Technician to join its operations and maintenance team in Lafayette, IN. The technician acts as a Subject Matter Expert in Industrial IoT and control systems, helping improve equipment efficiency, reduce costs and build scalable solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the IoT and controls SME, using machine data to optimize asset performance, reduce costs and improve uptime
• Design visualization screens to track and analyze real-time equipment metrics
• Identify critical asset issues, perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives for equipment IT programs and report to management and clients
• Plan facility shutdowns, turnarounds and outages, covering programming and communication needs
• Use PLC, HMI and SCADA knowledge (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Modbus, Profinet) to diagnose and optimize production systems
• Work with maintenance teams and site leads to share best practices

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, Facility Management, Industrial Technology, Computer Science or equivalent, plus 6 years of relevant experience
• Experience with CMMS such as Maximo
• Demonstrated root cause analysis, cost savings and corrective action experience
• Ability to work various shifts, including overtime, weekends and holidays
• Valid driver's license, U.S. work authorization (no sponsorship), and ability to get a security badge at the client site
• Preferred: IoT sensor expertise, schematics reading, project management, supervisory experience
