General Maintenance Technician II (2nd Shift)

About the role

Amentum, a supplier of maintenance and engineering technical support for commercial and industrial critical facilities, is looking for a General Maintenance Technician II for its 2nd-shift industrial maintenance team in Lafayette, IN. The role covers a wide range of general maintenance tasks to keep building systems, equipment and facility infrastructure performing safely and reliably. Shift hours are 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM, which may vary with business needs.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair and perform preventive maintenance on lighting, conveyor systems, overhead cranes, R.O. systems, dock locks, levelers, pumps, piping, seals, valves, forklifts, batteries, HVAC (VAVs, AHUs), motors, compressors, plumbing and water systems.
• Maintain and repair facility structures such as walls, flooring, windows, doors, hardware and roofing.
• Assemble and install shelving, cabinets and office furniture.
• Run scheduled preventive maintenance in the CMMS and document work, repairs and inspections there.
• Respond to customer service requests in line with regulations, codes and standards.
• Safely operate equipment such as forklifts, hoists and aerial lifts, and follow safety procedures like job hazard analysis, lockout/tag-out and PPE use.
• Recommend maintenance improvements and assist specialized technicians.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of experience maintaining buildings, facilities or equipment in an industrial or commercial setting, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
• Ability to work on and around 480V 3-phase electrical systems and to work from aerial or scissor lifts up to 30 feet.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, climb ladders and walk extensively across the facility.
• Valid driver's license (if required by the client), U.S. work authorization (no sponsorship), and ability to get a security badge for the site.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience repairing industrial and commercial lighting systems and controls.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair 480V 3-phase electrical systems, HVAC, conveyor and R.O. systems, pumps, motors, gearboxes, valves, cranes and hoists.
• Basic plumbing maintenance experience and familiarity with CMMS platforms.
• Forklift and aerial lift operation experience.
