General Maintenance Technician II

About the role

Amentum, a supplier of maintenance and engineering technical support for commercial and industrial critical facilities, is looking for a General Maintenance Technician II to join its industrial maintenance team in Lafayette, IN. The technician maintains buildings and facility systems, performs preventive and corrective maintenance and keeps equipment reliable, working safely around 480V 3-phase electrical circuits.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs on industrial systems (conveyor belts, R.O. systems, HVAC units, pumps, motors), facility systems (lighting, plumbing, roofing, ventilation) and equipment (forklifts, dock locks, cranes, hoists, industrial batteries, exhaust fans).
• Maintain facility infrastructure such as flooring, doors, walls, office furniture, cabinets and shelving.
• Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, hoists and cranes safely during maintenance.
• Document work in the CMMS system and recommend process improvements.
• Respond to service requests, follow safety protocols including hazard analyses, lockout/tagout and PPE use, and assist specialized technicians.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ year of experience maintaining buildings, facilities or equipment in an industrial/commercial setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to work safely in aerial/scissor lifts up to 30 feet.
• U.S. citizenship required (no sponsorship offered); must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test and obtain a security badge at the client site; a valid driver's license may be required.
• Physical demands: lifting up to 50 lbs regularly, climbing ladders, extensive walking and repetitive hand movements.

Required skills

• Preferred: troubleshooting and repairing lighting systems, 480V 3-phase electrical components, HVAC, conveyors, R.O. systems, pumps, motors, valves, cranes, hoists, hydraulic, pneumatic and steam systems (up to 100 psi), and basic plumbing.
• Forklift and aerial lift operation, familiarity with CMMS systems.
