In House Litigation Counsel

About the role

This position offers a Nevada‑barred attorney the chance to own a diverse litigation docket within a family‑owned real estate company. The role reports directly to the CEO and emphasizes hands‑on case management without heavy reliance on outside counsel.

Key responsibilities

• Manage civil litigation matters from initial assessment through resolution, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, settlement efforts, and trial preparation.
• Develop case strategies, evaluate legal and business risk, and advise internal stakeholders on dispute resolution.
• Draft and respond to complaints, motions, briefs, discovery requests, and other litigation documents with minimal supervision.
• Take and defend depositions, prepare witnesses, and coordinate all phases of factual development.
• Negotiate settlements and represent the company in mediations, hearings, and other proceedings.
• Handle disputes involving property operations, liability claims, tenant issues, and employment litigation.

Required profile

• Barred in Nevada (or California/Texas with willingness to take Nevada bar) and residing in Nevada.
• 8+ years of experience litigating cases from start to finish with autonomy.
• Ability to run cases with limited instructions and make independent judgments.

Required skills

• Litigation management including pleadings, discovery, motions, and trial preparation.
• Deposition taking and defense, witness preparation.
• Settlement negotiation and mediation representation.
