Implementation Manager - Spend/ERP

About the role

Airwallex's Merchant Services team delivers global spend programmes for its customers, and the Spend and card implementation specialists own the work from contract signature through go-live and early adoption. As Implementation Manager for the Spend Team, you will own end-to-end delivery of complex Spend and corporate card implementations for enterprise and high-growth customers across the US, turning business requirements and solution designs into actionable implementation plans. The role is based in San Francisco (3 days in office) with implementation coverage across the US.

Key responsibilities

• Act as a trusted technical advisor to customers and internal teams on high-value implementations and expansions, shaping integration approaches, system configuration and solution design.
• Partner with activation, onboarding and account management teams to turn customer requirements into scalable architectures, especially where ERP, HRIS and API integrations are central.
• Work with sales teams on technical discovery and recommend a best-fit integration blueprint, including when and how to use APIs and third-party connectors.
• Work hands-on with customers to troubleshoot integration issues and guide configuration decisions, without writing code directly.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on the integration ecosystem (HRIS and accounting partners) and help close gaps in integration coverage.
• Create and maintain internal documentation, playbooks and lightweight tooling for integration-heavy use cases at scale.
• Channel customer pain points and integration feedback to Product and Engineering to influence the roadmap.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a related field (Business, Finance, Engineering, Information Systems) or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience in implementation, onboarding, customer success or project/program management, managing complex, multi-stakeholder technology or financial services implementations.
• 4+ years of client-facing delivery or professional services experience in a fast-paced environment (SaaS, fintech, consulting, systems integration, enterprise implementation).
• Proven track record delivering cross-functional projects with stakeholders including C-level executives, technical teams and operations.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication and presentation skills, able to lead steering meetings and influence decisions without direct authority.

Required skills

• Experience delivering ERP, accounting system or expense platform implementations (e.g. NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Xero) and their data flows (GL, cost centres, entities, card feeds).
• Preferred: hands-on experience with integration engineers and solution architects on API-based integrations (web, SSO, ERP integrations).
• Preferred: formal training or certification in project management or agile delivery (PMP, PRINCE2, Scrum Master) and experience managing strategic or enterprise accounts.
