ICU Nursing Supervisor – Night Shift (Full Time)

About the role

This position serves as both a supervisor and a direct care provider for critically ill patients in the ICU during the night shift. The incumbent coordinates, delegates, and oversees nursing interventions delivered by registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and patient care technicians. The role also acts as a resource for staff on patient assessment, care planning, and problem resolution.

Key responsibilities

• Organize, plan, and supervise coordinated patient care within the ICU unit.
• Evaluate nursing interventions, delegate tasks, and ensure compliance with clinical practice guidelines.
• Manage staffing, scheduling, and clinical supplies to support uninterrupted patient care.
• Address and resolve conflicts on assigned shifts, collaborating with unit leadership as needed.
• Promote patient safety, quality, and experience initiatives in partnership with quality and safety leadership.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school with a BSN (required for Ochsner Magnet facilities).
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience in acute care or 2 years of LPN experience in an acute setting.
• Current RN license in the state of practice and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Required skills

• Computer proficiency with software and web‑based applications.
• Medication dosage calculations and strong knowledge of pharmacology.
