Hydrographic Party Chief

About the role

The Hydrographic Party Chief will lead a team of surveyors from our Syracuse office, ensuring safe, efficient, and high‑quality hydrographic data collection for bathymetric projects across New York and Pennsylvania.

Key responsibilities

• Lead hydrographic survey projects from assignment through completion, including data QA/QC, equipment setup/calibration, and troubleshooting.
• Perform data acquisition, processing, equipment maintenance, and produce final deliverables and reports.
• Communicate survey status, update plans, resolve issues, and maintain project schedules.
• Assist with project proposals and reporting as needed.

Required profile

• Degree preferred in Survey, Geomatics, or GIS.
• 3+ years experience in survey or geophysical industry.
• Experience with HYPACK/HYSWEEP and knowledge of geodesy and datums.
• Valid driver’s license and legal authorization to work in the United States.

Required skills

• Proficiency with HYPACK/HYSWEEP software.
• Familiarity with R2Sonic multibeam, Edgetech sub‑bottom profiling and side‑scan sonar systems.
• Experience trailering and operating a survey vessel.
• Knowledge of MicroStation or other CAD software (preferred).
