Hydraulic Technician - Tube Instrument Fitter

About the role

EnerMech, a specialist service company delivering integrated solutions for complex energy projects, is hiring a Hydraulic Technician / Tube Instrument Fitter for its Fluid Power Products team in Houston. The role covers the fabrication, installation, inspection, testing and maintenance of stainless steel hydraulic and instrumentation tubing systems from 1/4" to 2" in diameter, and requires interpreting engineering drawings and P&IDs.

Key responsibilities

• Install, bend, route and secure stainless steel tubing from 1/4" through 2" OD
• Fabricate tubing assemblies with manual and hydraulic tube benders, and cone and thread MP and HP tubing
• Install connections, glands, collars, pressure fittings, compression fittings, valves, manifolds, clamps and supports
• Read hydraulic schematics, P&IDs, isometric and fabrication drawings
• Perform pressure testing, flushing and leak testing, and troubleshoot hydraulic systems
• Maintain system cleanliness, carry out preventative maintenance and document work and test records
• Travel to customer facilities and offshore/onshore job sites as required

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 3 years of hydraulic tubing installation or related industrial experience
• Experience with 316 stainless steel tubing and coning and threading of MP and HP tubing
• Knowledge of compression fitting systems such as Parker A-LOK, Swagelok, Hy-Lok, Autoclave Engineers, HIP or equivalent
• Valid driver's licence and ability to travel
• Preferred: oil and gas, petrochemical, pipeline or offshore experience; forklift, aerial lift or crane certification; TWIC card; OSHA 10 or 30

Required skills

• Use of hand tools, power tools, tube benders, coning and threading equipment and pressure testing equipment
• Reading hydraulic schematics and engineering drawings
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
