HVAC Mechanic - Air Conditioning

About the role

The Greenbrier Hotel in White Sulphur Springs is hiring an HVAC Mechanic for its Air Conditioning department within Engineering. The position involves diagnosis, repair, installation and preventive maintenance of HVAC equipment, with varied working hours and overtime.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair and perform operational checkouts, start-ups and preventive maintenance of HVAC equipment
• Install and clean equipment, and observe additional maintenance needs, reporting them to the supervisor
• Follow specific general instructions and make independent decisions while working independently

Required profile

• Journeyman skill level: completed 4-year apprenticeship with classroom time and 8,000 hours of work, or equivalent trade experience
• High school diploma or G.E.D.
• Valid West Virginia driver's license and EPA refrigerant certification
• Ability to lift up to 70 pounds regularly, walk, stand, climb ladders, scaffolding and stairs, and work in hot, cold, dirty, wet conditions, confined spaces and at heights
• Effective communication with guests and colleagues, teamwork, computer and time-management skills

Required skills

• Refrigerant handling and HVAC system troubleshooting (residential and commercial)
• Furnace and air conditioner change-outs, compressor and heat pump change-outs, chilled water systems and zone systems
• Blueprint reading, advanced controls (electric, pneumatic, DDS), VAV systems and static pressure control
• Soldering and brazing, sheet metal, hydronic systems and job estimating
