About the role
We are seeking a dedicated Human Resources Generalist to serve as the heartbeat of our HR operations. In this role you will support a mission‑driven organization in Houston, providing comprehensive HR programmatic and operational support to staff and management.
Key responsibilities
- Provide guidance and coaching to managers and staff on employee relations, disciplinary actions, and policy interpretation.
- Administer benefits programs, compensation, and HRIS systems (ADP/WFN), ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Lead the full recruitment cycle from requisition to onboarding, including sourcing, interviewing, and extending offers.
- Develop, implement, and maintain employee training and development initiatives, including safety and management training.
- Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (FMLA, FLSA, ADA, HIPAA) and internal policies.
- Maintain employee files, conduct audits, and ensure documentation meets legal standards.
- Investigate employee complaints, health and injury claims, and conduct exit interviews.
- Facilitate performance management processes, including evaluations and professional development planning.
- Prepare and analyze HR reports, data, and metrics to support decision‑making.
- Support special projects such as workers’ compensation, unemployment claims, and workplace safety initiatives.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; PHR certification is a plus.
- Minimum three years of experience as an HR Generalist, preferably in a nonprofit or governmental setting.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proactive, results‑oriented team player with high integrity.
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
Required skills
- Proficiency with ADP/WFN HRIS platforms.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and solid experience with the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience in benefits administration, recruitment, training development, and performance management.
