HSSE Project Supervisor

About the role

The HSSE Project Supervisor will lead health, safety, security and environmental (HSSE) compliance across construction and large‑scale terminal projects at APM Terminals. You will work onsite in Elizabeth, NJ, ensuring safe execution of work and driving continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise implementation of HSSE policies, procedures and systems to meet corporate standards and local regulations.
• Conduct field inspections, identify hazards, and ensure corrective actions are applied promptly.
• Monitor HSSE performance indicators, analyse trends and lead improvement initiatives.
• Lead incident reporting, investigations and root‑cause analysis, ensuring corrective and preventive actions.
• Oversee Permit‑to‑Work (PTW) processes, verifying critical controls such as LOTO, gas testing and barricading before work starts.
• Supervise contractors and field crews to maintain compliance with safety standards and site rules.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum 4 years of HSSE experience in construction, industrial or large‑scale project environments.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, risk management and safety compliance.
• Proven ability to supervise field operations and manage contractor safety.
