Housekeeping Supervisor

About the role

The Housekeeping Supervisor oversees the housekeeping staff and inspects their work daily so that guest rooms are ready for occupancy. The role keeps the property's public spaces and all areas consistently clean, organized and sanitary, meeting the standards set for Forbes Five-Star properties and Relais & Chateaux members. It reports to the Director of Housekeeping and is a non-exempt hourly position.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Director and department leadership with housekeeping and laundry duties, and respond promptly to guest requests and concerns.
• Help create, review and monitor staff schedules, confirm arrivals and find substitutes for late or absent staff.
• Prepare work priorities from the list of vacant rooms needing cleaning, organize assignments and share room availability with the manager.
• Inspect furniture, walls and floor coverings and communicate needs to management.
• Attend staff meetings with other supervisors, discuss policies and complaints, and recommend improvements.
• Maintain a safe, secure and healthy workplace in line with legal regulations.
• Inventory supplies, place orders and verify deliveries; follow operating instructions, troubleshoot breakdowns and call for repairs.
• Help manage property operations to maximize profitability and growth.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent and a current, valid driver's license.
• At least two years in housekeeping, including one year of supervisory experience.
• Experience leading a housekeeping team in a multi-unit facility requiring daily cleaning.
• Able to stand for long periods (up to 8 hours) and lift up to 30 lbs regularly and 50 lbs occasionally.
• Clear written and verbal communication, attention to detail, reliability and confidentiality of guest information.

Required skills

• Use of radio, computers, apps, Word and Excel.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
