Hourly Speech Therapist

About the role

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is seeking a qualified Speech Therapist to provide assessment and treatment services at Georgia Regional Hospital – Atlanta in Decatur. This PRN position offers up to 29 hours per week on an hourly basis.

Key responsibilities

• Administer hearing and speech‑language evaluations using specialized instruments and electronic equipment.
• Fit and dispense assistive devices such as hearing aids and provide auditory training.
• Develop and implement individualized speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing therapy programs.
• Maintain comprehensive client records from initial evaluation through discharge.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.
• Refer clients to additional medical or educational services when needed.

Required profile

• Knowledge of normal speech and language development.
• Understanding of the nature and causes of speech, language, and hearing disorders.
• Ability to assess, diagnose, and plan treatment for a range of communication disorders.
• Strong communication skills for counseling clients and working with interdisciplinary teams.
