Hourly Speech Therapist

About the role

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is seeking a qualified Speech Therapist to provide assessment and treatment services at Georgia Regional Hospital – Atlanta in Decatur. This PRN position offers flexible scheduling up to 29 hours per week and a competitive hourly rate.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct hearing, speech, language, voice, and fluency evaluations using specialized instruments and electronic equipment.
• Fit and dispense assistive devices such as hearing aids and provide auditory training.
• Develop and implement individualized speech exercise programs and monitor client progress.
• Maintain comprehensive client records from initial evaluation through discharge.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.
• Refer clients to additional medical or educational services when needed.

Required profile

• Current PRN license to practice speech-language pathology in Georgia.
• Ability to assess and treat a wide range of communication disorders.
• Strong documentation and record‑keeping skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for working with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency with speech‑language evaluation instruments.
• Experience fitting and dispensing hearing aids.
• Knowledge of sign language and alternative communication systems.
• Ability to design and deliver speech‑exercise programs.
