Hourly Paid Physician – Admissions (Board Eligible)

About the role

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is seeking a Board‑eligible Physician to provide hourly, admission‑focused medical care at Georgia Regional Hospital in Atlanta. This position offers a dynamic environment within a state‑run safety net serving patients with mental health, forensic, and developmental disability needs.

Key responsibilities

• Examine patients, take histories, and order diagnostic tests (lab, imaging, etc.).
• Diagnose conditions, prescribe treatments, medications, vaccinations, and other therapies.
• Coordinate care with nurses, social workers, therapists, pharmacists, and psychologists.
• Supervise and direct nursing staff, aides, and medical assistants during patient care.
• Refer patients to specialists when necessary and provide emergency medical care as required.

Required profile

• Medical degree recognized by the Georgia Composite Medical Board.
• License or eligibility to practice medicine in the state of Georgia.
• Board‑eligible status in a relevant specialty.
• Ability to work under general supervision in a hospital setting.
