Hourly Occupational Therapist

About the role

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is seeking a qualified Occupational Therapist to provide PRN (as‑needed) services at Georgia Regional Hospital – Atlanta in Decatur, GA. This hourly position supports patients recovering from injury or disease by improving mobility, reducing pain, and promoting independence.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients' physical and mental abilities and develop individualized rehabilitation plans.
• Administer manual exercises, massage, traction, and therapeutic activities to enhance strength and prevent deformities.
• Collaborate with clients, families, and medical practitioners to set realistic goals and monitor progress.
• Teach patients and caregivers home‑care techniques and recommend environmental modifications.
• Document assessments, treatment outcomes, and progress notes in electronic health records.
• Participate in health‑promotion programs, group activities, and educational discussions.

Required profile

• Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the state of Georgia.
• Experience working in acute care, rehabilitation, or behavioral health settings.
• Ability to evaluate and adjust treatment plans based on patient response.
• Strong communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration.
