Hourly Health Aide

About the role

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is seeking part‑time Health Aides to support patient care at Georgia Regional Hospital – Atlanta in Decatur, GA. This hourly position provides basic assistance to patients and helps develop daily living skills.

Key responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and feeding.
• Take vital signs, assist with medication administration, and collect specimens as directed.
• Support patients with mobility, exercise, and transfers.
• Transport patients to treatment areas using wheelchairs or stretchers.
• Observe, document, and report patient behavior and activity.
• Facilitate recreational and social activities.

Required profile

• Minimum six months experience in direct care, basic nursing procedures, or related support for individuals with physical, mental health, or substance‑use challenges.
• Ability to work rotating shifts (7 AM–7:30 PM or 7 PM–7:30 AM).
• Willingness to undergo state and national background checks.

Required skills

• Basic computer proficiency.
