Hospitalist – Inpatient Care Physician

About the role

The Hospitalist provides comprehensive clinical care for adult patients admitted to the hospital. Working closely with primary care physicians, specialists, and ancillary staff, the Hospitalist ensures high‑quality, cost‑effective treatment throughout each patient’s stay.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care, including diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of hospitalized adults.
• Interpret diagnostic images to support accurate clinical decisions.
• Prescribe medications and recommend appropriate dietary and activity plans.
• Coordinate referrals to specialists when needed.
• Maintain strong communication with hospital teams, primary care physicians, and other providers to promote continuity of care.
• Perform various administrative duties related to patient documentation and quality improvement.

Required profile

• Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.).
• Active license to practice medicine in Louisiana.
• Completion of an internal medicine residency.

Required skills

• Diagnostic imaging interpretation.
• Prescribing and medication management.
