Hospital Security Dispatcher

About the role

The Dispatcher supports the Security Department at Mercy Hospital, ensuring the safety of patients, visitors, caregivers, and hospital property. This position operates within a two‑week rotating schedule and works closely with the security team to respond to incidents and coordinate resources.

Key responsibilities

• Receive calls and service requests, formulate appropriate responses, and dispatch personnel as needed.
• Regulate radio traffic, relay information, and answer questions from visitors, caregivers, and patients.
• Monitor closed‑circuit television screens to detect unusual activity or escalating situations.
• Implement emergency procedures for fire, disaster, infant abduction, tornado, bomb threat, etc., following department orders and manuals.
• Maintain accurate documentation for dispatch logs, equipment logs, helipad logs, lost and recovered property, patient valuables, and occurrence reports.
• Operate and maintain access‑control and alarm systems, ensuring proper response to alerts.

Required profile

• High school graduate.
• Clear speaking voice for radio communication.
• Ability to dispatch personnel in escalating situations.
• Visual acuity for continuous monitoring of security screens.
• Proficiency in computer software, typing, and data entry.
