Hospital Pharmacy Technician

About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to process orders, dispense medications, and support patient care in a hospital setting. The role involves working under close supervision, following detailed policies and procedures, and contributing to a compassionate, inclusive team.

Key responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service to patients and staff.
• Fill medication orders, charge/credit medications, stock, deliver, and inspect assigned areas.
• Prepare IV admixtures and other extemporaneous compounds using aseptic technique.
• Enter pharmacy orders and maintain accurate records in the computer system.
• Maintain certification, knowledge, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Perform related clerical duties such as typing, answering phones, filing, and greeting nurses and physicians.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; no prior experience required.
• Eligibility for Board of Pharmacy Technician Certification in the state of practice.
• Ability to travel between facilities and work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Required skills

• Computer proficiency for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
• Experience with Windows‑style applications and keyboard use.
• Ability to operate standard pharmacy and office equipment.
