Hospice Physician

About the role

The Care Team, in partnership with Traditions Health, is seeking a Hospice Physician to join its growing hospice team in Cuyahoga Falls. The primary function is oversight of physician services and the medical component of the agency, with a schedule of approximately 10 hours per week and a pay range of $200-$250 per hour.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee physician services and the medical component of the hospice program, supervising physician employees and contracted physicians
• Promote and maintain standards of practice consistent with quality hospice care, and palliate and manage the patient's terminal illness with the attending physician
• Review patient eligibility, including admission and re-certification
• Attend biweekly interdisciplinary group (IDG) meetings and take part in patient care planning
• Provide medical direction and education to clinical staff, consult for attending physicians and act as liaison with the medical community
• Assist with policy and procedure development, QAPI processes and continuing education
• Perform home visits, patient assessments and interventions, and complete face-to-face assessments as needed
• Support compliance with fiscal intermediaries and other third-party payors

Required profile

• Doctorate in medicine or osteopathic medicine from an accredited institution
• Current license to prescribe pharmaceuticals and medical treatments in the state
• CPR certification per agency policy
• Knowledge of the psychosocial and medical aspects of hospice care
• Reliable transportation and valid, current auto insurance
• Ability to sit for prolonged periods and handle stressful situations calmly
