Home Services Sales Consultant, Exterior (Washington D.C.)

About the role

The Home Depot is hiring a Home Services Sales Consultant in Washington D.C. to sell exterior and interior products and services to customers. The consultant spends most of their time travelling and away from an office, making sales calls at customer homes and at trade shows such as Home Shows. The position reports to the Sales Manager and has no direct reports.

Key responsibilities

• Make sales calls at customer homes, assess needs, recommend tailored products and negotiate custom price quotes
• Present warranty information and financing options, and prepare sales paperwork and contracts
• Take measurements using industry-standard methods so orders meet installation specifications
• Solicit new customers inside assigned stores and at industry events, and build relationships with store management and associates
• Educate store associates on HDIS offerings and raise awareness of HDIS programs
• Attend sales and store team meetings to improve sales techniques

Required profile

• Aged 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States
• High school diploma or GED
• 1+ year of previous related work experience preferred
• Typical requirement: overnight travel 5% of the time; must be able to stand or walk continuously and lift moderate-weight items (8-20 pounds)

Preferred qualifications

• Prior in-home or virtual sales experience
• Prior home improvement industry experience
• Experience generating leads and computer and app skills (email, iPad, apps)

Pay range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Nevada, New York City, Ithaca (NY), Westchester County (NY) and Washington residents: $40,000 - $100,000.
