Home Health LVN - Per Diem

About the role

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas is hiring a per diem Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) for home health. The nurse works under the general supervision of a physician, advanced practice provider and/or nursing leadership, providing experienced para-professional nursing skills in the treatment, care and safety of patients within the scope of practice defined by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care, including patient observation and delivery of prescribed treatments
• Monitor patients' medical conditions and report changes to appropriate personnel
• Maintain patient records and charts accurately
• Give patients and families instructions on using products and services, addressing their learning needs
• Prepare, hang, monitor and discontinue IV fluids, and manage IV access devices such as peripheral IVs and implantable catheters
• Deliver quality patient care that meets or exceeds established standards and supports compliance with state and federal regulations
• Maintain a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients and families
• Take part in the Quality Improvement Program (QAPI), services and staff meetings
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited Licensed Vocational Nurse program
• 1-2 years of post-high school education
• Licensed Vocational Nurse license issued by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners
• BLS certification
• Texas driver's license and proof of driver's insurance
• Preferred: 2-3 years of experience in high-tech and home care
