Home Health Aide

About the role

Amedisys, part of the Optum family of businesses, offers home health, hospice and community-based services. As a Home Health Aide in Kennesaw, Georgia, you provide hands-on personal care and assistance to patients in their residences, supporting comfort, dignity and daily functioning. You assist with activities of daily living under the supervision of licensed clinical staff and follow individualized care plans.

Key responsibilities

• Take temperature, pulse, blood pressure and respiration
• Maintain a clean, safe and healthy environment
• Assist patients with getting in and out of bed, bathing, hygiene and toileting
• Prepare and provide meals, and perform light homemaking and environmental services
• Observe, report and document changes in patient status and body function
• Recognize emergencies and follow care center emergency procedures
• Follow infection prevention, hazardous waste and safety procedures
• Follow written personal care instructions and assist with prescribed exercises

Required profile

• Current state certification (or registration) as a nurse assistant
• CNA experience within the last two years; longer experience requires additional training and competency program completion
• Must pass the care center's competency program
• Current CPR certification
