Histology Technologist - Full Time

About the role

Jupiter Medical Center, ranked #1 for safety, quality and patient satisfaction in Palm Beach County, is hiring a full-time Histology Technologist. The technologist works with department leadership to support the department's needs, preparing specimens and slides and supporting pathologists.

Key responsibilities

• Accession specimens, embed tissue, cut blocks and make slides
• Stain slides using routine special and immunohistochemical staining methods
• Maintain equipment and follow and document quality control procedures
• Perform frozen sections and assist pathologists in various tasks
• Assist in orienting new employees and stay current on technical knowledge and instrumentation
• May be required to cross-train in other laboratory duties and perform other assigned duties

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree and completion of a histology program
• State of Florida Technologist license and ASCP certification
• 1 year of experience in a clinical histology lab preferred
• Able to correlate physician requests with specimen preparation and processing
• Precise hand-eye coordination and finger dexterity for procedures, specimen collection and use of electronic equipment
• Physical demands include lifting up to 40 lbs and carrying up to 50 lbs, and long periods of standing, sitting and walking

Threshold requirements include annual Joint Commission mandatory education, in-service and health requirements, TB/PPD surveillance, and maintenance of required licenses and certifications.
