Histology Technologist - Full Time, Day Shift

About the role

Jupiter Medical Center, ranked #1 for safety, quality and patient satisfaction in Palm Beach County, is hiring a full-time Histology Technologist for its Main Campus. The role works in collaboration with department leadership to support the needs of the department.

Key responsibilities

• Access specimens, embed tissue, cut blocks and make slides
• Stain slides using routine special and immunohistochemical staining methods
• Maintain equipment and follow and document quality control procedures
• Assist pathologists in various tasks and perform frozen sections
• May be required to cross-train in other laboratory duties and perform other assigned duties
• Assist in orienting new employees and stay current in technical knowledge and instrumentation

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree and completion of a histology program
• State of Florida Technologist license and ASCP certification
• 1 year of experience in a clinical histology lab preferred
• Able to correlate physician requests with specimen preparation and processing
• Precise hand-eye coordination and finger dexterity for procedures, specimen collection and use of electronic equipment
• Physical demands include lifting up to 40 lbs and carrying up to 50 lbs, and long periods of standing, sitting and walking

Annual Joint Commission mandatory education, in-service and health requirements, TB/PPD surveillance, and maintenance of professional licenses and certifications are also required.
