About the role
The Illinois Department of Transportation is hiring temporary Snow Removal Operators for the 2026/2027 snow and ice season. Operators work on‑call from mid‑October through mid‑April, performing essential road maintenance and snow‑clearing duties across multiple counties in District 6.
Key responsibilities
- Operate snow‑removal equipment and vehicles to clear highways, bridges and local roads during winter weather events.
- Perform routine maintenance, repair and upkeep tasks on roadways and related infrastructure as needed.
Required profile
- Available to work on an as‑needed, on‑call schedule during the winter season.
- Physically able to handle outdoor work in cold and potentially hazardous conditions.
