Higher Education Architect / Studio Practice Leader

About the role

AE7 is seeking a Senior Architect to lead, develop, manage and grow its Higher Education Market Sector. The Studio Practice Leader oversees design and execution of higher education projects, leads business development, secures project work and manages staffing to meet project scopes and deadlines. The goal is to establish the firm as a domestic leader in the higher education sector and build a thriving, stable studio.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain strong relationships with higher education clients, acting as the primary point of contact throughout the project lifecycle
• Identify business development opportunities, collaborate with leadership on strategy, and recruit, interview and recommend candidates
• Prepare project proposals, fee structures and presentation materials, and attend RFP query sessions and client interviews
• Work with marketing to prepare materials, keep project data current, and help with content marketing
• Mentor and coach team members on design principles, technical expertise and industry best practices
• Develop a team for higher education work, coordinate outreach to existing and new clients, and support staff in presenting at trade organizations and speaking engagements

Required profile

• Licensed architect with a minimum of 20 years of experience, mainly in higher education
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited institution
• Proven track record of leading projects from concept to completion, including budgeting, scheduling and resource management
• Strong design portfolio in the higher education sector
• Excellent leadership and communication skills; able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
