Heavy Equipment Mechanic for Uranium Mill Remediation

About the role

The Moab Mechanic will service, repair, and maintain heavy equipment used for the Moab Uranium Mill Tailings Remedial Action (UMTRA) Project at both Moab and Crescent Junction sites. The role involves routine maintenance as well as complex repairs on a variety of heavy‑duty trucks, bulldozers, excavators, forklifts, and other equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, service, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electronic, air‑brake, transmission, generator, and pneumatic systems on heavy equipment.
• Perform scheduled maintenance such as oil and hydraulic changes, engine overhauls, and component rebuilds according to manufacturer recommendations.
• Maintain parts inventory, service records, and prepare cost estimates.
• Road‑test equipment and conduct corrective and preventative maintenance on a fleet of intermodal shipping containers.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent with 2–7 years of heavy‑equipment service, repair, and maintenance experience.
• Ability to read manuals, schematics, and project‑specific plans; communicate professionally with other mechanics.
• Must pass background check, drug test, hold a valid driver’s license, and be able to obtain U.S. Government clearance.
