Heart Transplant Coordinator (RN) – Full Time

About the role

We are seeking a registered nurse to oversee pre‑ and post‑transplant clinical practice, act as a patient advocate and educator, and support the transplant team at Ochsner Health.

Key responsibilities

• Performs pre‑ and post‑transplant clinical activities.
• Educates patients on procedures and self‑care.
• Educates nursing staff and colleagues.
• Serves as an integral member of the transplant team, assisting physicians by monitoring patients.
• Manages outpatient transplant clinics and periodically reviews patients with physicians.
• Ensures compliance with quality initiatives and regulatory standards.
• Adapts communication style to respect patient privacy and individual needs.
• Provides care to individuals of all age groups and performs other related duties as required.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school (required); Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 3 years related experience with an associate degree or 2 years with a bachelor’s degree.
• Current RN license in the state of practice.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Preferred Certified Clinical Transplant Coordinator (CCTC) certification.
• Knowledge of pre‑, post‑, and inpatient transplant clinical practice.
• Proficiency with computers, software, and web‑based applications.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal abilities.
