Healthcare Internal Auditor

About the role

Jupiter Medical Center, ranked #1 for safety, quality and patient satisfaction in Palm Beach County, is hiring a Healthcare Internal Auditor. The role sits in the Compliance Department and combines internal auditing with helping the Compliance Officer administer the Corporate Compliance Program.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct risk assessments and help prepare the annual audit plan
• Develop audit programs and run independent audits to assess control weaknesses, documenting the work
• Prepare reports and work with management on action plans, then track results through follow-up
• Maintain knowledge of governmental and regulatory requirements and educate management and governance on organizational risks
• Maintain databases and reporting processes managed by the Compliance Department
• Take part in compliance training and education, including scheduling sessions, keeping training records and helping write training modules
• Assist the Compliance Committee and Audit Committee with meeting documents, and help draft departmental policies, workflows and procedures

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in business, finance, health care operations or a clinical field; substantial auditor experience may substitute
• At least 3 years of healthcare audit or compliance experience, preferably in a provider, payor, clinical coding or revenue cycle setting
• Ability to interpret Medicare and Medicaid documentation and coding rules
• Knowledge of False Claims Act, Stark Law, Anti-Kickback statute, HIPAA and HITECH
• Clinical credential (RN, LPN, CAN, CMA) is a plus but not required

Required skills

• Proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint; regular data manipulation in Excel
• Experience using electronic medical records preferred
• Organization skills and ability to work independently in a stressful environment
