About the role

The Credentialing Specialist provides healthcare credentialing and administrative support for Navy clinical support staff at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, VA. This full‑time, onsite position ensures that all personnel meet the required qualification and credentialing standards for a military medical treatment facility.

Key responsibilities

• Verify and review professional education, specialized training, licensure, and background information for prospective and current clinical support staff.
• Obtain, assess, and document credentialing evidence to confirm authenticity and adequacy of medical qualifications.
• Monitor licenses, certifications, registrations, DEA status, and required training for privileged and non‑privileged healthcare providers.
• Research and respond to inquiries from healthcare institutions regarding staff work history and performance.
• Maintain accurate credentialing records using government systems and databases.
• Perform administrative tasks such as scanning, copying, printing, faxing, typing, and records processing.
• Handle sensitive credentialing information in compliance with DoD, DHA, Naval Medical Center, privacy, and information‑security requirements.

Required profile

• Eligible to work in the United States (no H‑1B sponsorship available).
• Willingness to work onsite daily at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth.
