Health Aide 2

About the role

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is seeking a Health Aide 2 to provide basic patient care at Georgia Regional Hospital – Atlanta in Decatur. You will support patients in daily living activities, assist with medical tasks, and help create a safe, supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Answer client call signals and respond promptly.
• Assist with medication administration, take vital signs, and collect bodily fluids as directed.
• Bath, groom, shave, and dress clients.
• Conduct recreational and social activities.
• Ensure client safety and security.
• Feed clients unable to feed themselves.
• Observe, document, and report patient data, behavior, and activity.
• Prepare clients for treatment or examination.
• Help clients with walking, exercising, and transferring in and out of bed.
• Transport clients to treatment units using a wheelchair or stretcher.
• Participate in additional training to gain full proficiency.

Required profile

• High School diploma or GED.
• Minimum six months experience performing direct care activities or basic nursing procedures.
• One year experience at Health Aide 1 level or equivalent.
• Ability to work with individuals with physical, mental health, or substance‑abuse disabilities.
• Successful completion of state and national background checks.
• Proficiency in basic computer use.
