Head of Tax

About the role

The Head of Tax is a senior, hands‑on leader within Cavender’s Finance organization. Reporting to the VP Finance Controller, this role owns federal partnership tax, multi‑state compliance and builds scalable tax processes to support growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead federal partnership tax compliance, including partnership returns, K‑1s, extensions and estimated payments.
• Own multi‑state tax compliance, covering state income, franchise and related filings.
• Manage the tax compliance calendar, filing workflow and supporting documentation to meet all deadlines.
• Ensure accurate data flows for tax filings by coordinating with accounting, payroll and other internal teams.
• Develop and maintain tax processes, controls, policies and documentation for consistency and scalability.
• Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities and system enhancements.
• Provide tax leadership and planning support aligned with business initiatives and organizational changes.
• Advise finance leadership on tax implications of entity structure, ownership changes and expansion.
• Support tax accounting and reporting, including ASC 740 matters and income‑tax provision coordination with external advisors and auditors.

Required profile

• Senior tax professional with hands‑on experience in partnership and multi‑state tax compliance.
• Proven ability to build and scale tax processes, controls and infrastructure.
• Strong collaborator who works closely with Finance, Accounting, Legal, Operations and external advisors.
• Comfortable handling complex tax matters while executing filings and resolving issues.
