Head of Data Strategy and Enablement

About the role

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this combined commercial, product and technical leadership role drives Marsh Re's data strategy and enables colleagues to use its data platform to win and retain business. It leads about 20 experts across the US, UK and Brazil, with a strong focus on client advisory and on deploying engineers and AI products to the field. The role is based in New York City.

Key responsibilities

• Support analytics-led advisory that wins new business and retains clients, and advise clients on their own data and AI strategy
• Engage clients with AI-oriented products built on the firm's data lake, and deploy engineers embedded in broking teams
• Co-develop scalable AI products with broking, analytics and advisory teams, and own the data-product lifecycle from discovery to continuous improvement
• Lead the firm's frontier data and AI work, including applied AI and GenAI, and partner with GC IT to move prototypes into production
• Champion data quality, governance, security and responsible AI, and extend the enterprise data governance framework
• Lead the team of data engineers, data scientists, software developers and product managers, and run quarterly business reviews with the Executive Committee

Required profile

• 12-15+ years in data, analytics or AI, with 2+ years leading a multidisciplinary team
• Proven track record turning analytics into commercial outcomes and building and scaling data/AI products
• Strong command of data architecture, ML algorithms and applied AI, and experience managing engineering leads and product managers
• Advanced degree in a quantitative field (or equivalent experience)
• Insurance, reinsurance or financial services background, and hands-on experience with LLM/GenAI in production are a plus
