Grant Administrator II - Pre-Award

About the role

Tarleton State University seeks a Grant Administrator II to support pre‑award activities for faculty and staff. The position is based on the Stephenville main campus and works standard business hours, providing essential assistance in preparing and submitting grant proposals.

Key responsibilities

• Assist faculty and staff with grant and contract proposal preparation, internal review routing, and timely submission to sponsors.
• Review proposal materials for completeness, alignment with sponsor requirements, and compliance with Texas A&M System and university policies.
• Support budget development, cost clarification, and coordination with post‑award financial specialists.
• Track proposal submissions, maintain records, and follow up on pre‑award and post‑award activities.
• Serve as a liaison among investigators, sponsors, university research services, and post‑award personnel.
• Develop and lead professional‑development sessions on external funding and research administration.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Five years of grant/contract administration experience in a university or state agency setting, or three years as a Grants Administrator I within the TAMU System.

Required skills

• Proficiency with spreadsheet applications (e.g., Microsoft Excel).
