Graduate Intern – Statistical Analysis

About the role

The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston is seeking a motivated graduate intern to support a data analysis project focused on financial inclusion in low‑ and moderate‑income communities. This 9‑month, on‑site internship offers hands‑on experience in community development research, statistical modeling, and data visualization.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with team members to improve existing data analysis and visualization workflows.
• Conduct literature reviews on methodologies, data sources, and analytical approaches relevant to the project.
• Assist with data collection, cleaning, and management from multiple public surveys and datasets.
• Support the development and implementation of quantitative models, including statistical estimation, forecasting, and clustering techniques.
• Perform geospatial analysis to identify regional patterns and trends.
• Create data visualizations and contribute to interactive dashboards.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in economics, public policy, statistics, data science, or a related field.
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills with coursework in statistics and data analysis.
• Proficiency in at least one statistical software package such as R or Python.
• Experience with data visualization tools, preferably Tableau.
• Experience handling large datasets, including data manipulation and cleaning.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a professional environment.
