Graduate Financial Aid Counselor

About the role

The Graduate Financial Aid Counselor supports graduate students and their families by guiding them through the financial aid process, from application to fund disbursement. This hybrid position works closely with multiple university departments to ensure accurate and timely aid delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Counsel students and parents on financial aid options, billing procedures, and financing alternatives.
• Administer federal, state, and Northeastern financial assistance, reviewing applications and performing eligibility analyses.
• Conduct per‑term audits of federal eligibility, adjust aid, and monitor satisfactory academic progress.
• Represent the Financial Aid Office at open houses, workshops, and evening programs to answer questions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent relevant experience.
• Experience in student personnel administration, preferably in Financial Aid or Student Accounts.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.
• Ability to present to large groups and work with diverse, non‑traditional student populations.
