General Sawmill Utility

About the role

The Sawmill Utility/Cleanup Worker ensures a clean, organized, and safe environment at the sawmill, supporting production by handling waste, assisting operators, and performing general labor tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Perform general sawmill cleanup, removing sawdust, bark, wood scraps and debris from production areas, walkways and equipment.
• Monitor waste conveyors, direct dry and green end waste to the drum chipper, and manage hog belt overflow material.
• Load debris into dumpsters or trucks, maintain clear work areas, and report unsafe conditions.
• Maintain fuel/oil levels in chainsaws, refuel loaders, and complete pre‑trip inspection checklists.
• Assist with other production jobs and work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Physical ability to lift, push or pull 50–75 lb repeatedly and stand for long periods.
• Willingness to work in dusty, noisy, hot or cold conditions and around moving equipment.

Required skills

• Operation of industrial vacuums and conveyors for waste collection.
• Basic maintenance of chainsaws and loaders (fuel/oil checks, refueling).
