General Maintenance Worker (HVAC Focus)

About the role

We are seeking a General Maintenance Worker to perform routine and preventative maintenance across the Saint Louis University campus, with a strong focus on HVAC systems. The role involves responding to service requests from faculty, staff, and students, and completing work orders assigned by facilities supervisors.

Key responsibilities

• Provide responsive, customer‑focused service for service calls and emergency situations.
• Perform basic repairs to walls, floors, ceilings, windows, doors, and general upkeep tasks such as patching, painting, and caulking.
• Support building systems by troubleshooting HVAC, plumbing, and electrical issues and reporting items that require skilled trades.
• Conduct scheduled inspections and preventative maintenance of equipment like sump pumps, filters, and fans.
• Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, equipment serviced, and safety concerns.
• Assist with special events, room setups, and on‑call shifts as needed.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Class E driver’s license (or equivalent).
• Availability for 24/7 emergency response and willingness to work overtime.
• Preferred: two‑year technical degree or certification and five or more years of facilities maintenance experience.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb, work on ladders, and perform duties in varied indoor and outdoor conditions.
