Future Talent Program – Biocatalysis Internship

About the role

The Future Talent Program offers a 11‑12 week internship in the Biocatalysis group of the Small Molecule Process Research & Development department. Interns will work alongside scientists on projects that advance biocatalytic tools for drug discovery, development, and manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

• Develop novel enzymatic transformations and engineer proteins with new functions.
• Design and execute microfluidic screening platforms, data analysis, and automation workflows.
• Support fermentation processes to produce robust enzymes for downstream applications.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, or related fields.
• Completed at least two years of study by June 2027 and available full‑time for 11‑12 weeks starting May/June 2027.
• Authorized to work in the United States (no sponsorship provided).

Required skills

• Laboratory techniques: reactions, work‑ups, chromatography, crystallization, precipitation.
• Analytical methods: HPLC, NMR, mass spectrometry, spectrophotometry.
• Molecular biology: PCR, biochemical assays, enzyme engineering.
• Data handling and programming: Python or MATLAB, data visualization.
