About the role
Join UT Health Tyler as a full‑time Paramedic providing critical pre‑hospital care in Tyler, Texas. You will work alongside EMTs on MICU ambulances, delivering high‑quality patient assessment, triage, and transport while upholding safety standards.
Key responsibilities
- Respond promptly to all assigned emergency calls, ensuring efficient and safe patient care.
- Collaborate with EMTs on MICU units to perform comprehensive patient assessment and triage.
- Package and transport patients according to established protocols and medical direction.
- Occasionally operate on a “Double Medic” unit, working with another Paramedic when required.
- Maintain a hazard‑free environment and adhere to UT Health East Texas EMS policies and chain of command.
Required profile
- Texas DSHS certification as EMT‑Paramedic or equivalent National Registry license.
- Associate’s degree or equivalent education in emergency medical services.
- Current Texas driver’s license and ability to obtain a Texas license within 60 days for new residents.
- Regular attendance, punctuality, and compliance with all regulatory and company policies.
- Commitment to ongoing continuing education and certification maintenance.
Required skills
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (obtainable within 14 days of hire).
- International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) or Pre‑hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) certification (obtainable within 30 days).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (obtainable within 30 days).
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Pediatric Education for Pre‑hospital Professionals (PEPP) certification (obtainable within 30 days).
- All certifications required by the Medical Control Board and the Master Contract.
