Full-Time French Preschool Co-Teacher (Native or Fluent)

About the role

La Petite Ecole de New York is seeking a full‑time co‑teacher for its Greenwich Village and Upper West Side campuses. The ideal candidate is a native or fully fluent French speaker who is organized, patient, and experienced in preschool and early‑childhood education.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and collaborate on daily arts‑integrated preschool curriculum.
• Maintain classroom safety, cleanliness, and daily attendance records.
• Prepare the classroom each morning and clean up after school.
• Supervise students during teacher absences, manage pick‑up/drop‑off, nap time, and meals.
• Organize field trips, chaperone outings, and handle related paperwork.
• Conduct weekly observations, assessments, and evaluations of student progress.
• Restock supplies, manage housekeeping, and oversee a recycling program for art projects.
• Participate in open houses, student interviews, and the summer camp program.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education (birth to grade 2).
• Minimum two years of preschool teaching experience; special‑aid experience is a plus.
• Legal work authorization in the United States (working papers, visa, fingerprinting, FBI background check).
• Familiarity with progressive educational philosophies such as Reggio Emilia is advantageous.
• Strong communication skills with children and parents.

Required skills

• Fluent or native proficiency in French.
