Front-End CAD Engineer

About the role

Etched builds AI chips tailored to specific model architectures, aiming for higher throughput and lower latency than current GPU-based solutions. It is hiring a Front-End CAD Engineer in Cupertino, a fully in-person team that values engineering skills and expects technical staff to contribute to both engineering and research.

Key responsibilities

• Own and manage Etched's front-end CAD environment, including build flows, tool-specific flows and tool installation and configuration.
• Evaluate, deploy and sustain front-end tools such as RTL simulators, low-power checkers, static RTL checkers (Lint), CDC/RDC/SDC/DFT and formal verification checkers (property and equivalence).
• Configure and manage the project execution dashboard.

Required profile

• Experience developing and maintaining front-end IC design flows, including scripting and EDA tool configuration.
• Ability to automate and optimize CAD workflows for chip design verification.
• Ability to interface with EDA vendors and internal users, identify their needs and priorities and bring in the right capabilities.
• A can-do attitude and speed from spotting a problem to delivering a deployable solution.
• Bonus: hands-on RTL design experience, including owning a design block to validate CAD methodologies.

Required skills

• RTL simulation and static checks (lint, CDC, RDC)
• Formal verification tools and low-power tools
• EDA tool configuration and scripting

Strong candidates may also have experience setting up front-end IC design flows, working with Synopsys and Cadence R&D, sales and field support teams, or working for chip companies such as Nvidia, Intel, AMD, Qualcomm, Marvell or Broadcom, or an internal chip team at a hyperscaler.
