RTL Design Engineer

About the role

Etched builds AI chips tailored to specific model architectures, such as its first product Sohu, which supports only transformers but delivers much higher throughput and lower latency than a B200. As an RTL Engineer, you will help ensure that these AI chips operate correctly and efficiently, developing and implementing design verification strategies for existing and upcoming ASIC designs. You will work on state-of-the-art machine learning architectures and in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of autonomy.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement design verification strategies for current and future ASIC designs.
• Implement blocks that efficiently compute floating-point math operators.
• Give feedback to the uArch team so that blocks meet timing and area constraints.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of work experience in RTL development.
• Experience with high-speed digital logic.
• Able to learn quickly about transformers and other aspects of modern AI, and willing to start quickly.

Required skills

• Proficiency in standard RTL design and synthesis tools.
• Familiarity with verification work and writing test benches.
• Strong candidates may also have experience with PCIe, Ethernet or HBM, familiarity with transformer models and machine learning, knowledge of numerical representations and functions, and the ability to script in Python or another scripting language.
