Forward Deployed Engineer Lead – AI Solutions

About the role

Reflection is a research lab building open AI models that anyone can use and customize. We are looking for a technical lead to grow our Forward Deployed Engineering function within the AI Solutions team, bridging cutting‑edge research with enterprise deployments.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with deployment strategists and sales to understand enterprise needs, architect solutions, and develop transformative agentic applications.
• Design and build complex agentic systems using state‑of‑the‑art LLM workflows, integrating deeply with enterprise infrastructure.
• Collaborate with research teams to adapt and fine‑tune models for customer‑specific requirements, contributing to internal inference and evaluation codebases.
• Own end‑to‑end deployments across hybrid environments (public cloud, VPC, on‑premises) ensuring production‑grade scalability, performance, and reliability.
• Define playbooks, best practices, technical standards, and mentor engineers to scale the Forward Deployed Engineering organization.

Required profile

• Strong software engineering background with experience shipping production‑grade systems.
• Proven track record deploying enterprise software in cloud or hybrid environments using modern DevOps practices.
• Deep understanding of machine‑learning concepts and hands‑on experience with modern AI stacks (vector databases, RAG pipelines, agent orchestration, evaluations, fine‑tuning).
• 6+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years in a technical leadership role delivering AI‑driven enterprise solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to work in customer‑facing environments, translate user needs into technical solutions, and deliver tangible outcomes.
