Food Service Worker

About the role

The Food Service Worker supports the manager in preparing meals, maintaining records, and ensuring a clean, safe kitchen environment at Tyler Junior College. This position involves direct food preparation, service, and sanitation duties.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare quality food and baked goods according to the daily menu.
• Maintain accurate cash receipts, meal records, and daily transaction reports.
• Store food safely and follow all food‑safety and sanitation regulations.
• Serve meals on schedule, add garnishments, and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, counters, steam tables, and work areas.
• Assist with major cleaning of refrigerators, freezers, and cooking equipment.
• Supervise food temperature requirements and adhere to uniform and PPE policies.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the manager.

Required profile

• Food Service Certificate (or equivalent) as needed.
• Basic education or training sufficient to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure.
