About the role

The State of Georgia’s Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a Food Service Worker for its Atlanta Youth Development Center in College Park. The role involves preparing, heating, and finishing food items, serving customers, and handling cash transactions in a safe, sanitary environment.

Key responsibilities

• Cleans work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, and silverware.
• Prepares, peels, slices, and trims food using manual and electric appliances.
• Assists with food supply requisitions, sanitation, and maintenance inspections.
• Receives payment for food items and handles cash transactions.
• Replenishes supplies at steam tables and service bars.
• Stores food in designated containers to prevent spoilage.
• Unpacks and stores raw and prepared food products.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least six months of experience in a food‑service or related setting.
• Ability to learn and follow food‑safety and sanitation procedures.
• Basic math skills for cash handling.

• Operation of food preparation equipment (manual and electric).
• Cash handling and basic transaction processing.
• Sanitation and safety procedures in a kitchen environment.
